Here's a list of some of the parameters that can be passed to maps.google.com. (and .co.uk/.be etc) You might want to pass such parameters if you want to get Google Maps to display driving directions, which are not available under the API.

We’ll top it off with an interesting nugget of information for all you hardcore addicts; as it turns out, in the past 30 days, 17% of Twitter users (vs. 12% of non-Twitter social media users) have accessed social media from a washroom or toilet. Just make sure you wash your hands afterwards, folks.

I love taking pictures of signs on signs. They usually point to bad design (literally). Here are some of the ones I’ve taken lately.

Duidelijk omschreven to do's, vage to do's, to do's met hoge prioriteit, to do's als tussendoortje, …

The story is this: a girl was out with friends having drinks on King St (in Toronto ). This guy approaches her and won't leave her alone -saying how cute she is. She finally gives in and hands the guy her business card to get rid of him.
The attached is an MP3 file of not one, but TWO voicemails this guy left. This goes down in the history books – especially the second voice mail.
After hearing them you can clearly see why she didn't call him back – instead she called in to the Z103.5 morning show & had them play this on the air.

Between 2003 and 2005, 1,662 murders were committed in New York. Men and boys were responsible for 93 percent of the murders; their victims tended to be other men and boys; and in more than half the cases, the killer and victim knew each other.
In addition, an interesting, though uncommon, group of murders involved a handful of victims who died of injuries one or more years after being stabbed, shot, beaten or burned and were counted as murder victims in the year in which they died.

Though many computer applications and operating systems make use of real-world metaphors like the desktop, most software interface design has little to do with how we actually experience the real world. In lots of cases, there are great reasons not to directly mimic reality. Not doing so allows us to create interfaces that enable people to be more productive, communicate in new ways, or manage an increasing amount of information. In other words, to do things we can’t otherwise do in real life.
But sometimes, it makes sense to think of the real world as an interface. To design user interactions that make use of how people actually see the world -to take advantage of first person user interfaces.

I’ve created a mashup of Google Maps and every New York City location used in filming the movie Ghostbusters and its sequel Ghostbusters 2 that a person might be likely to visit on a trip to Manhattan. It’s my first time using the Google Maps API, but I think I’ve come up with a slick way to use it. But still, let me know if anything doesn’t work right.

The interface to accomplish this should be information centric, as opposed to application centric. The iPhone is the current best case example of an application centric interface. Almost the entire screen is taken up with beautiful icons that tell you next to nothing. Rather than a number on an icon showing me how many new emails I have, I’d rather see some of those emails.

Formerly half of Radio Slave on remix duties for the likes of Fischerspooner, Benny Bennassi, Tiga, and Justin Timberlake, London producer Serge Santiago as a solo producer has been releasing vinyl-only Italo-disco edits since his first 'Atto D’Amore' EP on his own label Arcobaleno, which translating as 'rainbow' in Italian coincides with each release being cleverly printed in a different colour. He then went on to have recently remix Shit Robot's 'Simple Things' after his takes on Hercules And Love Affair, Goldfrapp, Kris Menace, and Caspa tracks with a more electro-tinged sound.

The war against file-sharing has found a new figure-head. After she wrote an interesting post on MySpace, singer Lilly Allen’s words have been relayed around the world – she has even started a new blog where many artists are supporting her. But what if the new face of anti-piracy was just as bad as those she criticizes?
ahah, thanks for the link to the “in belgium i’m famous” portrait of one of the music lovers at ARF festival you put 🙂
